Pepin County 4-H Teen Leaders send 3rd Shipment to Platoon in Iraq

In support of our military, the Pepin County 4-H Teen Leaders have been sponsoring an “Adopt A Platoon” drive. The platoon we have adopted consists of 30 paratroopers from the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, currently deployed in Iraq. We have a special interest in this specific platoon because one of the soldiers is a Pepin County 4-H alumni.  Our group has sent 3 shipments of boxes already and plan to ship 2-3 more in the next few months.

The Pepin School and Durand-Arkansaw Jr./Sr. High School are participating in this campaign by collecting select product donations from their students and the general public to be sent to the soldiers.  We have received many donations but are still seeking more for the coming months.  Monetary donations will be used to assist in our shipping costs, with any surplus applied to the purchase of other useful items to be sent directly to the platoon. Your company logo or individual name will be included in every box sent to the platoon. All donations are tax deductible. Please drop off or mail your donations to the UW-Extension Office, Attn: Pepin County 4-H Teen Leaders, 740 7th Ave. W., PO Box 39, Durand, WI, 54736.

We believe our care packages will enhance the morale and well-being of the platoon. These men and women are dedicating their lives to protecting our freedoms. It’s not enough to remember these sacrifices in thought alone. Let’s remember them by our deeds! Thank you in advance for your recognition of the important contributions our troops make to society and helping this 4-H Teen Leader campaign.
