Pepin County 4-H Senior Youth Council
This organization is made up of 4-H members in grades 8-13. The SYC Council is active in community service, youth development/life skills/educational activites, and volunteering at the Pepin County Junior Fair.
YOUTH LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
County to County (Intrastate) Exchange is a trip where youth travel to another Wisconsin County and then that same summer their host will travel to Pepin County. This program is for members 5-8 grades. Do not need M.E. form for application. If interested contact the Extension Office.
Wisconsin 4-H & Youth Conference is held in Madison the 3rd week of June, 2011. This is a great beginning trip for members in the 8th-10th grades. M.E. form and recordbook needed for application.
Community Service Trip
This trip is in conjunction with the Pierce and Buffalo 4-H program. Teens (9th-12th grade) travel to another state to help those in need. This takes place for a week in the summer. Dates to be announced. ME form and recordbook is needed for application.
Citizenship Washington Focus is for members in the 9th grade and over. Delegates participate in seminars on citizenship, leadership, government, tour D.C. and meet with U.S. Congress and Senate. This takes place for 10 days in the summer. Delegates stay at the National 4-H Center, near D.C. M.E. form and recordbook needed for application.
National 4-H Congress includes a wide selection
of self-development seminars, tours, and a service project while exchanging ideas with youth from across the country. Delegates selected this fall will travel to Atlanta, Georgia, in November of 2010 (during Thanksgiving vacation but not on Thanksgiving Day – allow a couple of days for travel). Members must be 14-18 years of age as of 1-1-2009 at the time of application. Do not need M.E. form for application. State selection. Ask Marie for details.
National 4-H Conference in Washington D.C. will be held April, 2011 (allow a couple of days for travel). Participants will work in task-groups with other youth from across the country to develop plans around specific issues (education, promotion, environment, youth partnerships, etc.) They will help direct future 4-H programming. They will also spend a day meeting with legislators and touring. Members must be 14-18 years of age as of 1-1-2010. Do not need M.E. form for application. State selection. Ask Marie for details.
